LifeCounter: How Many Days Until You Die?

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

I'm not into the whole productivity thing, but there is a list of things I would like to do before I die. The Internet is full of such lists, so I won't contribute to the clutter. What I will do is ask you to create a LifeCounter.

A LifeCounter is a simple measurement of the number of days until you will pass from this earth. Once you've set your LifeCounter, you'll find that you have a new sense or urgency.

The picture above is from my LifeCounter on iGoogle. It's just the basic countdown timer that Google has, nothing special except for the fact that it shows me just how many days I have left until I kick it. [Cite: The idea for using iGoogle comes from Kevin Kelly. Check out his article.]

Maybe I'll go before the counter expires, or maybe I'll make it a few more days/years/etc. It doesn't really matter. What matters is thinking about your life in terms of what you can do with the time you've got - and then doing something about it.
