Niebu - Good Morning, Internet
Friday, May 2nd, 2008Niebu is a young Internet meme that began when James at MenWithPens, a tireless blogger and funny Twitter star, accidentally shifted one key to the left. So, instead of "Morning", he wrote "Niebu".
"Is it just me, or does 'young Internet meme' make me seem irrelevant?"
What I found interesting about this word (besides the fact that it is fun to say and feels like a natural extension of a request for shrubbery) is that it took off. There are some pretty funny posts on Twitter about Niebu, but this blog post was a little more profound...
In reality, Niebu means Community. Niebu is the grand community of web workers and their friends, followers, and anyone else who wants in; it’s not exclusive. Niebu means, in some ways, I get up at 5 AM to work my a$$ off all day so that I can have the afternoon to watch my kid’s Kindergarten play. It means The soul-sucking corporate environment is eating away at my soul. I need a way to escape.
